Our new film about our Dartmoor farmers and the wildlife they help has just been released in collaboration with SFT. Check it out - and their report on sustainable livestock grazing.
Sustainable Food Trust@SusFoodTrust

🎬 A new film by @FarmWilder, produced with support from the SFT and narrated by @theAliceRoberts, tells the story of how three farmers in Dartmoor National Park are using their cattle and sheep to farm more sustainably. ➡️ Watch in full: vimeo.com/1069664223

This Wednesday we sent a letter to Defra Director General for Strategy and Water David Hill and Farming and Countryside Programme Director Janet Hughes. We urge a review of the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) action for Herbal Leys (CSAM3). 1/5

@DrTrevorDines @herdyshepherd1 Interesting. Some of our farmers struggle with a huge amount of yellow rattle and are trying to knock it back a bit to improve the yield.

Councils not only don't have the money to pay for Ragwort removal, but have also realised that Ragwort is a native wild plant which is very valuable to other wildlife. Growing on road verges it creates no risk to livestock. Other landowners still hoik it out, mainly for PR though

Amazing how much benefit to nature on farms the ELMS subsidies have achieved. We’ve taken back control of our farming policy - the only positive from Brexit that I’ve seen so far. theguardian.com/environment/ar…

An authorised massacre of Switzerland’s fragile wolf population has been taking place this year, at the behest of livestock farmers who swear that their losses are unacceptable (their losses are in fact minuscule). Well, DNA analysis of 50 wolves killed so far shows that not a single one of them had killed any livestock at all. Zero. The whole thing is an evil farce. And yet legal farmer-led killing of wildlife is spreading fast across Europe. Join a European environment group today and help stop this. blick.ch/fr/news/suisse…

@turbotechdog @guardian Why does George write so many articles attacking British beef farmers - many of whom are doing great work restoring wildlife habitats, and so few about excessive fossil fuel use? Why not supermarket shelves full of air freighted fruit? Or the carbon footprint of fashion or sport?

In the mood for a laugh and finally got round to reading the Monbiot article 🍆 ‘Livestock farming is one of the most destructive industries on earth’ 😴 …Whilst I am bombarded with a car advert 🤦 🚗 Honestly @guardian, you have no morals

I meet many non-farming groups & often ask them what % of emissions they think come from Ag. Response always 50-80% ‘because that’s the impression we get from media’. (Real figure c.10%). So dangerous, as society then ignores the real issue it needs to face - fossil fuels.

Please sign this petition to save a beautiful wildflower meadow from being turned into a massive commercial allotment with parking for 70 cars. It’s next to Leigh Woods National Nature Reserve and SSSI so an important part of the wider ecosystem.

Neat video clip here from Roger Auster, of a Sea #Trout successfully traversing a #Beaver dam in SW England. After the second (large) fish leaps, you can see the ripples in the smooth water right of centre on the crest of the dam as it powers through.
