UPDATE: Enhanced Risk (level 3of5) is now in place NW of DFW. Storms arrive in DFW after 9pm and move out after midnight. Hail and strong winds are the main threat with the strongest storms. Heavy rain leading to flooding will be possible (esp. NE of DFW) #wfaaweather

The Texas power grid has not been compromised.
The ability of some companies that generate the power has been frozen.
This includes the natural gas & coal generators.
They are working to get generation back on line.
ERCOT & PUC are prioritizing residential consumers.

I have gathered information all day from ERCOT & the Public Utilities Comm. & will provide a detailed update shortly. Many power generation companies facilities froze overnight and shut down their ability to generate power. They are working to get power back on line. More soon

@REadesJr I will check on this. ERCOT notifies each utility of how much load needs to be curtailed to keep the grid secure. Then software is used to keep outages controlled, rotating, and in compliance with ERCOT's mandate.

@CatholicRepubl3 Great question. ERCOT says that extreme weather conditions caused many generating units – across fuel types – to trip offline and become unavailable. Some renewable sources are iced over and not producing. ERCOT has some information about this at ercot.com/news/releases/…

ERCOT has declared an EEA 3. Energy conservation remains critical. Rotating outages are underway to reduce demand on the electric system.

@FarmersEC when are you going leave the electricity on? This 20 mins on then off again is killing me. I pay you to deliver electricity and currently you are not doing that!!! You don't even know if I need my electricity due to medical reasons

@lisajcox Good afternoon, you and your neighbor may not be served by the same feeder line. Your neighbors may have some kind of backup generation. The feeder your neighbor is on may also provide energy to an emergency facility. We attempt to avoid curtailing load to this type of facility.

@FarmersEC I live in Wylie. I’ve had rolling blackouts since 1:00 am. My neighbor directly across the street is on FEC & has had none. Why???
