It’s an important piece of research, and its findings clearly show that the British Council’s work developing the UK’s soft power is needed today as much as ever. #GlobalPerceptions2025 explores how 18–34-year-olds see the UK and the world. While the UK remains a country admired for its values, culture and education, the report finds that the appeal of G20 countries is waning, while respect for alternative government systems grows. Scotland and Brazil share a valued and enduring relationship built on diplomacy, trade, education, and the arts. External Affairs Secretary @Angus Robertson welcomed Brazilian representatives to discuss ambitions to strengthen the links between the two nations.

In 2025, Brazil and the United Kingdom celebrate 200 years of diplomatic relations. Throughout 2025, there will be several initiatives to celebrate friendship and cooperation between the two countries. The launch of the official logo marks the beginning of the celebrations.

Congratulations to the British Council team and our friends at Guimarães Rosa, the Minstry of Culture, Mostra SP, OSESP and the British Consulate. The UK-Brazil Season of Culture is now officially open and will run in both countries for the next 9 months. Last night, we had an unforgettable sold-out evening at the Sala São Paulo watching Hitchcock's silent film The Lodger: A Story of the London Fog, supported live by the São Paulo Jazz Sinfonica. Final week as Local Senior Officer for Ayrshire before moving into the role of Deputy Assistant Chief Officer. Grateful for the new opportunity, though I will miss working alongside dedicated @Scotfire_ENSA colleagues, partners and communities across Ayrshire at the same time.
