@Timmysofine Fantastic. Sounds very inspiring. More of this needed.

@MetamateDaz It's absolutely essential to reject the screen addiction & reliance on short-form content.
The mind needs stillness. So many people literally can't just sit in silence for 30 seconds.

You used to have your bet ideas in the shower, now you have a waterproof speaker. You used to get lost in thought waiting for the train, now you have a phone to fill the gap. You used to daydream on long flights, now there's a screen in your hand and on the seat in front of you. You used to think on your morning commute, now you have a podcast playing before you leave the house.
We used to stare in to the sky or into a fire and let our minds drift, now we have TVs and phone to replace that. We filled every silence and lost all of our peace, creativity and ideas that lived within that silence.

@johnbbeta Chaotic evil for a mix every time

@elonmusk @diana_dukic X is definitely my favourite social media platform.
But the threshold for suggesting stuff based on your interaction should be higher. If I click some random topic once, it doesn't mean I want to see more.
Also should be easier to lessen topics suggested.
topic weighting tool?

@brockpierson Well I can't deny the #1 hot dog influencer on X

@avidseries I've got into just sharing the link to stuff like that with Grok & asking for the transcript, as it's so much faster reading it than listening to people talk

@alyzaphobic Sometimes it's good to get some 3rd party perspective, or give it a break & get some distance perspective.

@Jackkk I agree. Since I put my social media in a separate folder called "are you sure? Really" I usually don't use it & do something more productive instead.

Pewdiepie reveals how to break free from the algorithm
“A lot of this is going to sound crazy but you’ve gotta hear me out, it’s a step by step process. I’m not saying you should do all of it but you should try some of it”
“Step 1 is creating friction. I put all social media and attention hungry apps in a second profile and I can’t understate how much this changed my life. Those 5-6 seconds it takes to switch profiles stops me every time and makes me think, is this what I want to be doing?”
“The second thing I did was self hosting. The effect that had on me is I’m not the product anymore. The things I use are mine and because they’re not free, I’m not paying with my privacy. I think the main difference is ads and news don’t reach me”
“Next thing I did was disable Shorts, I like YouTube but I hate how Shorts is everywhere I can’t escape it”
“Then I unfollowed everyone. You don’t have to do this, this is definitely a me thing, I just got really fed up”
“Next, get a DNS blocker. You can remove ads completely, most of it won’t even reach your device”
“I think you owe it to yourself to take some time today and start building your tech fence”
“These tech companies don’t care about you, so you’ve got to care about yourself. The cheat code is building some friction and filtering out the noise, that’s your defence and your cure”

@dinahaddie Welcome to some parts of the UK

@KeruboSk Curtains that don't cut out much light. No caffeine after 5pm. Eat light in the evening. Better sleep + easier to wake up. No alarm needed for me.

@barkmeta Yep. Same as all of us having to click what a fire hydrant is forever... Training their models for free.
Start messing with the system on purpose. If it really feels like AI slop, click "no".

YouTube asking “does this feel like AI slop” is not them protecting you.
It’s them using you to train their next AI to make slop so good you’ll never be able to tell the difference.
And they got you to do it for free…
Polymarket@Polymarket
JUST IN: YouTube now has a popup asking "does this feel like AI slop?" to help combat low quality AI-generated videos.
English

@euIVmusic Absolutely. Halting the creative process to focus on the technical can kill the session, but it's a trap all producers have fallen into.
Get the vibe down while you're feeling it, then the next day spend an hour finding the right kick drum to swap out.

Experts make it more complicated than it actually is. Open a DAW, try stuff and export if you like what you hear.
