I am a Palestinian from Gaza, and my family was among those expelled from Yaffa in 1948.
First of all, I don’t believe you any right to describe yourself as a Palestinian.
Second of all, what Palestinians want and deserve is an end to the occupation, along with justice and accountability for decades of Israeli war crimes. Our rights are rooted in international law and fundamental human rights, rights that no power can take from us. Definitely not the terrorism of our occupiers.
You cannor but acknowledge that the history of Zionism and, later, Israel is inextricably linked to the use of terror. Israeli officials have, at times, been quite explicit about this.
Consider these two examples:
1. Yitzhak Shamir, writing in the Lehi publication He Khazit (The Front) in August 1943, stated: “Neither Jewish ethics nor Jewish tradition can disqualify terrorism as a means of combat.”
Shamir later served as the Prime Minister of Israel between 1983 and 1992.

In a 1950 statement revealed by Haaretz in February 2026, he admitted: “It is impossible to expel 114,000 people who lived [in the Galilee] without terror. There had to have been an element of initial terror for them to leave.”
Given this history, is the real obstacle truly a lack of 'moderate' Palestinian leadership, or is it the foundational terrorism used against us?"

This is the wrong takeaway. Kat’s loss was not a referendum on progressive politics in the way people claim.
While it is true that many young progressive candidates over-index on social media, Kat clearly broke through that noise and ran a genuinely captivating+ high-energy campaign.
The very simple reasons my friends in IL-09 have consistently given me is that it came down to not having enough time to build deep trust in the district. This is bigger than people on here think.
I’ve noticed this doesn’t matter to a lot of people online, but to residents inside IL-09, having someone who has been in Chicago for decades, has taught in this city, and is actively mayor here - it’s legit just proof of concept.
People are being incredibly unfair to Kat after she built something amazing. Also lots of unfairness towards Biss and Bushra to be honest.
