Idk if we have the nuance to talk about this topic cause YGO suffers from a mix of both People who haven't touched the game in 80 years And overly competitive players who will tell you the game is fine as is but will rant about how BS the game is every other day lol

I hate that yugioh is the game that people have takes on despite having no real experience with it. I do not pass judgment publicly on games I do not know well, but I guess if you played for one year as an 8 year old it's fine.

@EMTElaina Again I think this is both sides tho, like popular takes are literally saying it needs mana, go back to goat format or there's no fun in modern YGO Both sides have extreme arguments and reactions that Twitter specifically makes worse cause engagement baiting is 70% of the site

And the communication problem is one of those sides doesn’t want to take any opinions from the other sides seriously even when those opinions are valid, to the point it’s just their defensive system now, so they even make absurd claims just to invalidate the boomers side: “YGO is too complex” -> if you don’t want to spend time learning this game, fuck you and we don’t need you “YGO has new players issue” -> we don’t need new players etc.

I'm always semi competitive, not good enough for competitive play but much better than the average person. I do try to see both sides I hoped Genesys was more low power YGO but it seems to be modern YGO 2 when the game really needs to support a much slower format imo
