Deeply disturbed and shocked that a member of our church in Birzeit in Occupied West Bank has been arrested by Israeli forces. Layan Nasir is a 23 year old Palestinian Christian. Family don’t know where she is being held. Great concern and prayers for Layan and her family.

It was a joy to meet bishop Nicholas Hudson of Westminster. We discussed the dreadful situation in the Holy Land: the urgent need for a ceasefire and to allow aid to reach all areas. Bishop Hudson promised me his prayers and his support for a just peace in the Holy Land.

I was delighted to meet today with my brother in Christ, the Reverend Fadi Diab, the Anglican priest from St Andrew’s Ramallah in Palestine. In listening to him I heard again how the war in Gaza has upended life in the West Bank and East Jerusalem and created untold misery and suffering to thousands of families. Roadblocks, closures and the suspension of work permits have pushed countless families into poverty. The withholding of tax receipts to the Palestinian Authority has pushed basic services and critical infrastructure to the edge of collapse. The arming of settlers in the illegal settlements of the West Bank has intensified violence and contributed to a level of death and destruction not seen since the Second Intifada. The senseless killing of Rami Hamdan Al Halhouli, a 12-year-old Palestinian boy in East Jerusalem earlier this week, underlines all that is wrong with this cruel and horrific war. A 12-year-old holding a firework is not a terrorist but simply an innocent child holding a firework. There is no justification for his death. This war and its killing needs to end and it needs to end now. All hostages need to be released. Immediate and unrestricted aid must be secured to address the famine-like conditions in Gaza. I give thanks to the ministry of Father Fadi Diab at this critical time, and I pray that God will guide and watch over him, the wider Diocese of Jerusalem, and all Christian churches as they provide comfort and support to those most in need.

U.S. Prisedent threatens to cut finantial aid to Palestinians if they do not comply with U.S. peace plan. Blackmail! The "strongest" country in the world threatens to punish an occupied people. Has the U.S. lost its moral values. This is not any more a leading democracy.

Threatening countries that will vote against the U.S. at the U.N. is immoral. Using aid cut as means of depriving peoples and countries of their freedom of choice is enslavement. The U.S. moral system is at steak. How can the American people accept that?

Four Palestinians were killed today by Israeli soldiers during demonstrations. Rage continues to escalate after Trump's decision on Jerusalem. How many souls need to be sacrificed upon the alter of this deadly conflict. Pray for peace in the land of the Holy One.

Listening to people's stories is very important because the stories people tell mark their lives and their sense of identity.

Meekness is not weakness; it’s strength under control.

Their failure as children, is our fault as parents!

In multi-culture societies, the church has much more responsibility towards the public to bring Good News to a place that needs good news

Leadership is not about pursuing one's own dreams, it is about pursuing a call that embodies a vision that seeks building a community.
