May our Divine Saviour, Jesus Christ, bless us all on this festival day of His nativity.

@paultrowntree @CultureExploreX I have wondered recently whether the quite proper respect shown to people of other faiths (and obviously that of our Muslim neighbours), means that the contemptuous trashing of religious faith is finally becoming less fashionable.

@FatherTF @CultureExploreX For Example. I never thought I would see the day when a scientific paper claimed to corroborate the Doctrine of the Trinity (see extract) (a very bold claim and may well be getting the wrong end of the stick, but astonishing nonetheless).

Professor Maria Strømme, a professor of nanotechnology at Uppsala University, just proposed a theory that, if true, would flip modern science on its head and hand the afterlife back to religion. She argues that consciousness isn’t made by the brain at all. It’s a fundamental field of the universe. Meaning your “self” isn’t a chemical glitch… it’s a wave in something eternal. When you die, the wave doesn’t vanish. It returns to the source. If she’s right, near-death visions aren’t hallucinations. They’re glimpses. And life after death isn’t faith, it’s physics. So, if consciousness continues after the body, were religious traditions closer to the truth than modern science ever admitted?

There is a lot of sensible explanation of the notion of co-redemption.

@paultrowntree @CultureExploreX From that summary, I would guess he would say it is confused. It does get a little closer to the distinction between matter and spirit, while unfortunately fluffing it!

Two hopeful signs: the traditional Latin Mass is once again being allowed on side altars in the Basilica of Saint Peter, and Leo is reportedly allowing bishops to decide for themselves whether or not to allow the traditional Latin Mass in their dioceses. The first bit of good news I have confirmed, the second one I have not, but we are working on it. Keep praying.

Blessed feast of Saint Charles Borromeo. Here he is giving Holy Communion to plague victims. Saint Charles, pray for us!

Roberto de Mattei has written a superb account of Cardinal Merry del Val. It includes many valuable observations and judgments on his life and times. Warmly recommended. amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0F…
