I have seen both sides: I was president of a travel ball baseball club on the shores of Lake Michigan. 9u-14u. Limited tournaments to 5 and done by July 4th so families had a summer (vacations etc before football started). Still enough opportunity to get better/develop. Did our teams win the most high powered tournaments? No but competed. Won some smaller tournaments Had the travel ball experience. The balance was golden.

Probably too late for the logistics of this, but if FOX is smart, they bring Shohei Ohtani into the booth for an inning or two. Have the translator there if he needs convincing. But it would be huge to have the biggest international star in sports involved in the championship, especially for an event he won the last time it took place. And then with that move, you instantly grab the attention of another country that is baseball obsessed. #WorldBaseballClassic
