This tweet has gained a lot of traction. A lot of people are saying I am stupid for not just taking the payout. Here is why I still won't:
A few days ago, I made a tweet about Aristotle’s golden mean, the idea that virtue usually lies between two extremes of deficiency and excess.
In trading, two of those extremes are fear and greed.
Fear can make a trader want to realize profits pre-maturely because they cannot mentally handle the uncertainty of unrealized gains.
Greed, on the other hand, can make a trader never want to take profits because they are never content with what they already have.
Based on Aristotle’s framework, the optimal approach is usually found somewhere between those two extremes. I believe that is where I currently sit.
Before now, I was too fearful. As soon as my $100k account was up 0.5%, I would stop trading and wait for profit day. After two payouts, I realized I would almost never scale as a trader by operating like this.
If I had then decided to never take profits and just aim for the moon, that would have been greed.
That is why I decided that my new goal will be to grow my account by 4% each payout cycle and only withdraw then.
Here, I am not being too fearful, because I accept the uncertainty that comes with unrealized PnL. But I am also not being greedy, because I cap my payout upside at a reasonable 4%.
I believe growing as a trader is about finding that balance between fear and greed.

I’m currently sitting on $2k in profit in my FTMO account. I could close this position right now and secure a $1,700 payout. That would be my biggest payout ever. But I won’t, for two reasons: 1. I need to mentally get used to these bigger numbers, otherwise I’ll never scale as a trader. 2. I’m going for the FTMO Premium Program. To qualify, I need 4 payouts of 4% or more. Two things can happen here. Worst case, I hit a horrible drawdown, lose everything and get no payout. Or I remain disciplined, stick to my plan and eventually get a $3.2k payout. There is a lot of uncertainty here. But the more I trade, the more I realize that the ability to accept uncertainty is a key characteristic of a great trader. I want to be a great trader. Let’s see how this plays out...

@MimiiKanu @hat3amanda The thing is, people with the AS genotype are carriers of the sickle cell trait, which is why they should not marry another AS carrier.
An AS is safest marrying an AA.
If two AS marry, 1 in 4 of their children will have Sickle Cell Disease.

I think you mean AA to marry AA and for AS to never marry a fellow AS.

I engaged my friends one time on this topic of genotypes and I said that there are only two ways to eradicate sickle cell
1. Killing all AS/SS
2. Getting AA to marry AS/SS to dilute the population and ultimately eradicate it
