Brud is the main reason I, and many others, became a coach. He guided me through moments I wasn’t ready for, gave me tough love when I underachieved, and he was there for me in my adult life when I needed a father figure. Ferndale has lost a true pillar of the community. #RIPBrud

We are heartbroken over Brud's passing. There probably has not been anyone that has had more positive impact on Ferndale kids than Brud. I was blessed to come to Ferndale 19 years ago and get the chance to coach with him and even more, call him a friend.

Ferndale football lost a piece of its foundation last night. Rick Brudwick (BRUD) hated the spotlight, as these pics show, but he was instrumental in the development and success of every student he came across. His dedication and passion for his hometown are unmatched. #RIPBrud
