We are very fortunate to have so many community helpers find time to visit our class and teach us about their job! Yesterday we had a police officer tell us all about the work he does. Today we investigated our fingerprints!

Thank you to Devin @grousemountain in B.C for having a video chat with us to tell us how Coola and Grinder are doing! We have loved keeping an eye on these grizzly bears as they entered hibernation and are getting ready to come out! @PMochrie @MillgroveHWDSB

Today we got to visit a fire station without even leaving the classroom! We are always excited when we can bring authentic experiences into the classroom! As we learn about helpers in our community we are looking forward to welcoming more into our classroom! @MillgroveHWDSB

We have been making solar eclipse art as we learn more about the upcoming eclipse on Monday!

Thank you @OntScienceCtr for teaching us all about what a solar eclipse is and how we can protect ourselves by using approved solar eclipse glasses. Our students were very interested as they watched this fun and engaging livestream! @MillgroveHWDSB

@NGillissie @PMochrie Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to find a children’s book- we watched a short story on YouTube of the Ojibway story of Creation.

Our #chrisuphues inspired hearts mural grew larger then we expected! What started with a few kinders wanting to make people smile by making hearts, turned into a whole class project! #spreadingsmiles

“Hearts aren’t just for Valentine’s Day!” After lots of our kinders wanted to keep making hearts today, one friend explained, “Hearts aren’t just for Valentine’s Day. They make people feel happy.” We looked at #chrisuphues heart murals and wanted to spread happiness too!

Our class loves following Coola and Grinder @grousemountain and learning all about them! We can’t wait until they wake up from hibernation!

In kindergarten we are always looking for great read alouds to extend our little learners emotional literacy. Today for #BellLetsTalkDay we read this awesome book that had some great ways to navigate some of those fiery emotions! @MillgroveHWDSB @PMochrie

We had so much fun this week making our own flying machines and testing them out on the stage in the gym! Inspired by the book Anything is Possible by Giulia Belloni. Such a great book on determination and perseverance! @MillgroveHWDSB @PMochrie

Wow! Our original goal of 50 was crushed!!! Today we had to add ANOTHER chart as we now have collected 104 items for the food bank in our class alone! @PMochrie @MillgroveHWDSB “We are helping lots and lots of people!” True words of a 4 year old!
