GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME. As my dad said right after the fight, God didn’t change the direction of people in the Bible by laying out rose petals for them to follow, it was usually done uncomfortably. This is uncomfortable and feels upsetting but I have faith in His plan 🙏🏼♥️ Surgery is next Wednesday. Torn ACL confirmed. I’ll be back but changed some directions in life and taking this time to put family first. And this is just highlighting suicide, not depression, issues that arise from coping mechanisms, or suicide attempts. EVERY 60 SECONDS. It’s wrong, sad, preventable. Let’s speak up, not just for #mensmentalhealthawarenessmonth but every day! Be the first to start conversations, ask men how they are doing, give a hug, give a smile, pray for them, listen to them. And as family/friends of these men, try to recognize when someone needs a support system or shows change in behavior- even elation or being very happy doesn’t mean someone is good. I’ve known two men in my life in the past year who committed suicide and both exhibited signs. There are many risk factors; the ones I know first hand are spouses cheating, financial stress, dependency on coping mechanisms like alcohol or drugs, etc- they all play a part. And it’s heartbreaking to witness. Sometimes you can try everything but so many cases of suicide and even ongoing depression are preventable. Make a change. Speak up. Encourage help.
