As my lab develops Seurat, I wanted to share some thoughts on the important Seurat and scanpy package selection preprint from @Josephmrich/@lpachter 🧵

Only because one method/step/command does work *thanks to good general choice of default parameters*, it by far does not mean that this is the way it should be run. Sometimes I feel users are on a hurry - and/or, well, not too familiar with all the methods details

@lpachter @vitaliikl @maelouisewoods @satijalab @fabian_theis Agree 100%, but one can not make things monkey proof. A smart and thoughtful user is needed a the other end, and one that bothers to read methods sections and github documentation, which is not always the case

@lpachter They could start to aspire to ensure 5-6 years of healthy PhD life to students, given the requirements they are putting

This is a pretty good April 1st joke (though kind of weird it was posted a week early). But it would have been even funnier if the PhD was awarded in 1 year, required 6 published papers, and a thesis of at most 1,000 words.
