I don’t think this update will hit the mainstream culprits as hard as everyone thinks, instead, I suspect twitch’s failure to detect the most aggressive botters will give the botters at the top false credibility. Their viewbots are so expensive & advanced that they won’t get caught, the people in question are even fooling AWS (Amazon web services) which counts their botted viewerships toward their ad revenue. (Which is fraud) Only way to truly counter the viewbotters who are spending 10’s of thousands a week/month is to have a team within Twitch that actually dives into the deeper viewer account analytics and deeper dynamics of different communities. New generation viewbotting streamers have almost no fluctuation between different categories or even categories that are alien to what their viewership watches them for. This is not something that is improbable, but rather, it is something that is IMPOSSIBLE to occur in the streaming world. To add, advanced botters create temporary fake trends or fake hype by creating the same dynamic with TikTok, X, and Reddit, in combination with Twitch, to push narratives that make it appear that these heavily botted communities are making waves or have “motion” but if you look deep into it, nothing but the surface is moving. The industry is so damaged, even I can’t begin to fathom how that part gets fixed. ^ these few methods I mentioned are what are convincing some of the worlds most famous celebrities and top athletes beg to collaborate which in turn gives further credibility to the numbers, it is one massive fraudulent system that sells the illusion of “this is the next big thing” which then triggers a FOMO among everyone which in turn funnels in real audience that makes the previously majority botted one look more real. One of the main problems with this is it is rewarding botters and completely shitting on streamers who are not botting and putting in real work and time through the dog shit meat grinder of streaming while seeing minimal to no growth or opportunity to grow. Viewbotters aren’t only metaphorically taking the main course, they are taking all the scraps as well, leaving nothing for anyone else. ***IMPORTANT*** And what’s crazy is, I still haven’t even gone over the massive corporations who have left our space thinking that it’s not a “good fit” for their product when in reality it’s a great fit but unfortunately they were working with viewbotters that moved 0 weight and 0 product relative to what they should be with viewcounts ranging from 10,000 - 50,000 viewers. Botters have driven out 100’s of millions of dollars of “could have been”marketing revenue from real creators of all sizes across all of twitch and no one except a few good agencies know about it.

If this is real and you’ve done this right, you’re about to realize 80% of your top 100 new generation English speaking streamers are botting 50% or more of their viewership. First, they manufacture false hype and then they hide it behind “collaborative events” that make the viewcount *appear* to “make sense” to the general public or other real streamers they’re hoping to pull real audience from that don’t understand basic viewership dynamics or analytics. Now, understand that this technique has worked & has appeared to successfully create many new generation streamers’ careers, but it has taken away and takes away opportunity, discoverability and money from real hard working streamers who do not bot and will never see the mid level or top of Twitch in today’s highly inflated climate. Viewbotters lock themselves into top spots in the directory and create cliques in an attempt to monopolize the section, not with real growth or size, but with who they will viewbot next to further fortify the delusion that they or their clique have real weight or “clout” behind their own viewcounts. It’s become a dystopian lottery system ran by viewbotters who think because they bring an outside celebrity or athlete (who couldn’t pull 200 real viewers on their own stream) will somehow add 50K viewers onto theirs. Or if they collaborate with 10 other streamers who are all streaming the exact same pov that somehow they will all have 30K-50K each. It never has and will never work that way, but viewbotters don’t know this, they are frauds that don’t have real natural ground up viewership so they will never understand how real viewership or its dynamics work, they are all just attempting to imitate numbers they can’t & don’t understand. Everyone who knows how live audience streaming works knows that TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, and outside fame in almost all instances does not directly translate to LIVE active audience 1:1, it is far less. *This exists on all platforms* but has gone the most unchecked on twitch. When it’s obvious who is botting and who is not, the problem isn’t bad. But when you can no longer tell who is bullshitting and who is not, that’s when you know the problem is at its worst. *******IMPORTANT******* keep in mind, I suspect there are streamers who don’t even know they are being botted because they themselves have been fooled by the tactics I’ve talked about above and are being botted by their managers, agencies, or orgs who then turn around and sell that same manipulated data to sponsors and advertisers.
