Before we take ABC's decision as pure virtue signaling, let's consider the practical realities. They had a season ready to air this Sunday. Casting, filming, editing millions of dollars invested. Canceling it isn't a PR move they'd make lightly. The combination of a physical fight on video and an active police investigation made the show legally and reputationally unwatchable. Paul's "missing context" argument might be true, but in the court of public opinion, the video is the only evidence that matters right now. If the context really would change things, why hasn't her team provided it yet?

Nearly every single rape conviction serves time in jail or prison. You have a very narrow view here. Less got downwards than those within standards, and some of the down were for cooperation- meaning a child rapist helped get an entire child exploitation ring. Or a trafficking case. AND men raped by women STILL have a 0 charged, 0 convicted rate. That is the topic, you're trying to make ot about how women are victimized. They are not. These are GOOD rates for the justice system.

Conviction most definitely means punishment, what are you on? If a judge varies from the guidelines there must be proven reason. In 2020, 42% were within guides, 41% were downward variances due to a range of circumstances including mental health issues and assistance to prosecution, and nearly 4% were upwards variances.
