Good job brother, but what happens after this? There has to be a way to discourage people who dump refuse there. Even if the railway corridor falls under the responsibility of the NRC, the people who mess it up reside within that local government. So in a way, it's part of your broader responsibility because if you wait for NRC to do anything about it, nothing will happen and it becomes a stain on your good works. As you're cleaning up the mess for public safety, put a structure in place to discourage people from messing it up. Local government should start having a task force that oversees things like this to create sanity.

We have commenced the clearing of the railway corridor in partnership with the Lagos State Government as part of our commitment to a cleaner Agege. It is important to note that the railway corridor falls under the responsibility of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), not the Local Government. However, in the interest of public health, safety, and environmental cleanliness, we are taking proactive steps to support the clean-up. This week alone, three large waste bins were evacuated from the corridor. Clearing such a space requires time, coordination, and significant logistics, and we appreciate the patience and cooperation of residents as work continues. Waste management can't function effectively at the State level. It has to be decentralized to the LG while the State provides the regulatory oversight. Waste management fees should be a part of council tax per household. Inspection and monitoring should be at LG level.
