@JBK11663 Strong disagree (with the last part). With steady and consistent practice, you can absolutely achieve a voice you're happy with in around three months. You can do it!

@FemmeVoicePath i'm just starting my journey and voice training seems so daunting, it's just walls of text about techniques and exercises and i'm just sitting here like, holy shit this is gonna take me years just to get a basic level of competence.

Voice training can absolutely be hard! But it can be less hard by being creative around it's challenges: - Have references! Ideally 3-5 different voices. Write down an adjective you like about each voice! - Read dialogue aloud! It's more engaging than repetition! cont. ⬇️

“doesn’t estrogen affect your voice” > No. Only T does. “just voice train then” > I am. Voice training is hard. “use a voice changer” > I want to use my actual voice. “get the surgery” > It’s risky and doesn’t guarantee a fem voice and also requires voice training.

@Billie_WH I find practicing on some walks in a quiet area helps! Especially if you're walking a dog in a quiet area at night. A park, hiking route, anything like that ✨

@syntholly @ThatOneLynkz I get that. I'd be happy to do a free consultation with you even just to point you in the right direction with what may work for you :)

@FemmeVoicePath @ThatOneLynkz This _still_ means nothing, especially without a musical background or any kind of similar interests. I need alignment, I need direction and defined goals. ‘Try doing’ and ‘experiment with’ are far, far too nebulous.

@Alatariel__ It does require consistent practice which can be a challenge. That's why finding ways to make practice more fun can make it less like a chore. I also find practicing while doing other tasks can help as well for those with ADHD!

@ThatOneLynkz Try focusing on air flow first. Many people lean too far into resonance which gives it that super buzzy sound. Try doing a *very* breathy voice and work up those muscles so that when it's paired with some of that nasality, it comes out smoother!

@NoYes643829 I find it's best to start by working on your air flow. This can reduce leaning too far into a nasally or "buzzy" sound. It also helps you be able to modulate your volume in your femme voice. Try practicing in a VERY breathy voice (very Marilyn Monroe "happy birthday Mr President)

@misereve That's really understandable. I have ADHD and I've always been a visual/hands on learner. Voice training also throws a lot of terms at you which can feel really abrasive. Perhaps try touching your neck and throat as you practice to see what *feels* right

@FemmeVoicePath I honestly don’t even know what I’m doing with my voice. Half of these guides I’ve read are so hard to comprehend for me, since I’m terrible at retaining information just by text.

@sophiethe_fox I'll also be making video content about voice training which will be the primary source of outreach. If you had the indication the thread was written by ai, I'll take that into account when writing stuff in the future!

@sophiethe_fox I have a background of over 6 years in the animation industry, and I strongly oppose generative ai in any way, shape or form. Anything I post or share is made by a person.

@Alatariel__ It can be really challenging to build that sense of confidence up, I sort of liken it to learning a new instrument. It can feel sucky doing basic chords and "messing up" all the time, but having more precise idea of your desired end point helps a lot!

Having known Sam for the better part of my transition, you'd be pressed to find a funnier and down-to-earth instructor that's highly qualified to talk about voice training that's for sure 💖

- Collaborate with others. Training by yourself can be very stressful, it can feel like you're shooting in the dark. Get input from a trusted friend! - Your voice is malleable. It can do a lot of different things. Your current level is not where your developed voice will be! ✨

- Practice greetings that you're likely to use in public. Exercise by pretending to order a coffee/meal. Narrate your day a little bit. Consider your most used phrases and try those in your femme voice. It can make feel like there's less distance between you and your new voice!
