@RJDittmer@RMcCormick412@ClownWorld That's actually interesting. I didn't know that!
Like I figured there was some leeway, but it's neat to learn these things.
There’s been a lot of conspiracy theories lately claiming this little screw on gas pumps is some kind of scam to overcharge customers. This guy takes one apart and explains exactly what it’s for and what happens if it’s missing.
@5h1t13r@ClownWorld Yeah, but here's the thing: I don't actually care about the opinion of people who casually drop slurs.
I'm American, Scotch/Irish, and correct whether you believe me or not lol
@YouGotItToyota@ABC@marcorubio And if he couldn't do so, left the JCPOA in place and we could've done the renegotiations when it ran out. All he did was drive them to start enriching again thanks to putting sanctions on them again. The war was completely unnecesary.
@YouGotItToyota@ABC@marcorubio Yeah, and he should've done something, too.
What I'm saying is Trump should NOT have dropped the JCPOA in the first place and tried to negotiate some additional terms or a secondary treaty. That's what ALLOWED them to start enriching.
President Barack Obama reacts to U.S. action in Iran as the two sides get closer to a peace deal: “It is doubtful that any agreement that arises is going to be significantly different or a significant improvement from the deal that we had in the first place.”

@Mark_Moonfang@ClownWorld Also my station is low on the 'corporate does anything worthwhile' list because it's old. We do good business and keep the place clean, but we get low budget for upgrades and improvements unless abolustely needed. So I'll take what I can get for repairs that work.
@Mark_Moonfang@ClownWorld Well as he put it, it's about $200 to do a PROPER fix and the problem will pop up again eventually. So corporate and the guy in charge of the techs has them do this because it's cheaper and lasts way longer.
Not saying I wouldn't prefer a proper fix, but if it works, it works.
@Mark_Moonfang@ClownWorld Our pump tech installed them over the last few years because the problem he describes happens.
We were told to remove them about a month ago over the first hoax of this and the problem popped up again IMMEDIATELY until the pump tech came and reinstalled them (corporate made him).
@Mark_Moonfang@ClownWorld I dunno, maybe he just did this at a station he was working at to show this on a functioning pump. You'd have to ask him.
That said, the info In the video is correct about the purpose of the screw. I've had them in my broken pumps for years, never had one not hang up.
@FennPol@ClownWorld I'm going to need you to condemn Vishnu real quick.
Consider it a sort of Jeet Captcha so that we all know I'm not talking to a worthless street shitter.
@RJDittmer@RMcCormick412@ClownWorld It was done by our pump tech and signed off on by our upper management and the guy in charge of the pump techs.
Also 'can'? So it's up to the specific inspector?
@wjappe@ClownWorld Springs eventually wear down after thousands of uses. It's just a thing that happens. I DO agree it should have a better system, but here we are
@ClownWorld So why was it designed to need the screw to limit the travel of the metal plate in the first place? Why couldn't that be done, an adjustment, internally in the pump housing?
@FuneyGeorg68846@ClownWorld Eh, it's $200 and the screw fixes it 100% of time for like 0.05% of that cost. My pump tech installed ours over the last 3-4 years as pumps failed in this way. I don't see an issue with it, honestly. I'm just glad they work.
@ClownWorld I understand that permanent temp fix. How about the camel jockeys repair the pumps the right way! Is that screw listed in the parts manual?,No? THEN IT DOESN’T BELONG THERE! If they don’t like the common issues of thise pumps find another brand! They make enough of our money!
@TicklerBelly@ClownWorld No, in front of the flap. If it WAS behind it flap, it could stop the pump from being hung up, at which point you should 100% assume something fishy is going on since you wouldn't be able to seat the nozzle.
@ClownWorld The screw is supposed to sit, protruding, behind the flap...
All these videos are just gaslighting you into thinking there is nothing wrong.
@ClownWorld Never seen this on a pump before. If this is to fix an issue the owners need to fix it properly. They probably need to adjust a switch. Probably an inexpensive fix, and they are being cheap about it.
@tmddyan2@WesDidier1@ClownWorld Maybe you have a random special gas station that does this or your state is special. But in my experience across multiple states the instructions are to select the grade then pull the nozzle. Your “wrong” and pay attention next time” is rude and not accurate.
@jacdfl@ClownWorld It doesn't. That would need one behind the lever.
According to my pump tech, fixing it properly is like $200. This is 5 cents.
While I agree you should always get a reciept, the screw is legit.
@ClownWorld what the screw does is keeps the pump active. A screw has NEVER been needed to hold the arm in. If that was the case, fix it properly.
Get a receipt people. They have to end the sale.
@Mark_Moonfang@ClownWorld It's not. Without the screw, if the pump has that problem, you do sometimes have to push it in and release it to get it to work (multiple times, on really bad ones), because you're trying to get the loose lever back into place to detect it properly.
@ClownWorld Your own video proves you wrong.
In order to stop the flashing, and the beeping, he has to pull the flapper. The moment he pushes and releases it, the beeping resumes without issue.
The screw is a scam tactic.
@5h1t13r@ClownWorld Pump techs are the ones who put them in. It's because the actual fix is $200, so this is done a lot of the time because it's cheaper and still works 100% of the time. I've talked with my pump tech about it. We've never had a pump not stop when hung up.
@ClownWorld Yeah, that's fucking bullshit. If the "flapper comes out too far", you have a pump technician come out and fix that shit. It is designed to stop at the correct position.
This isn't a "fix", this is a rigged pump that claims to be duct taped to function properly.
@Ratio_Disputati@ClownWorld Usually it's done BY a pump tech, since they check to make sure it's installed the proper distance away. Only an idiot would do something like that to their own pumps.
@ClownWorld Well, that’s an unauthorized repair to the pump, which should be shut down until it’s repaired and recertified for accuracy by the state oil & gas regulators.
