Today’s fire West of FM683 appears to be under control - while not on the Project Matador site, our equipment and water were utilized to contain it. We are happy to have been able to assist, and beyond thankful for the heroes who always stand up and do the right thing to protect our region. We are also saddened for our neighbors who were potentially affected by today’s fire and will continue supporting the region’s first responders and their efforts to protect our community.

The construction is real, and it’s moving at #FermiSpeed. Fermi’s CMO @CathyLandtroop joined @NewsChannel10's 2nd Cup with an update on the first phase of #ProjectMatador — and a major milestone: six Siemens SGT-800 natural gas turbines that just arrived at the Port of Houston. The massive shipment required 165 20’ x 40’ shipping containers— and is just the beginning of the 2.3 GW of private power gen sets— to arrive on American soil and headed soon to Amarillo, Texas! When asked about being ahead of schedule, Landtroop said, “We probably picked up 15-20 days with the spring weather and moving at Fermi Speed” adding that getting the new power generation equipment in port was like “getting a car in COVID” due to supply chain issues, putting Fermi ahead in acquiring long lead time items critical to solving America’s energy crisis. U.S. data-center demand is on track to exceed 100 GW by 2035, concentrated in public ISOs where consumers already face rising utility bills. When AI compute competes with homes, businesses, and hospitals for power, prices go up. #ProjectMatador’s private grid model will help protect consumers from paying higher utility rates. He said the Energy Department has been working on the program for several months and it could also be implemented during peak demand periods in the summer… The DOE under Wright has been examining ways it can give data centers the ability to build their own power generation, which he has said could help lower electricity prices.
