The #IAFFM2021 best documentary was TEMPORADA DE CAMPO, by Mexican director Isabel de Vaca, who received her Silver Flamingo from actress Leticia Huijara. In addition, in this area the jury awarded a special mention to GAUCHO AMERICANO, by the Chilean director Nicolás Molina.

In the short film category, the #IAFFM2021 award went to EL SILENCIO DEL RÍO, by the Peruvian director Francesca Canepa. Here, the jury also gave a special mention to TÍO, by the Mexican Juan J. Medina.
