@MarkConnollyCBC We totally nerd out over the tracks and scats of wildlife. Love discovering and solving the little mysteries that nature leaves for us.

Talking point: May the 4th be with you! Even if you're not a Star Wars fan, what are you nerdy about? #Yeg

@RyderDAR @FisherSpeaks This is a tough one. The gate varies quite a lot and is messy, with a zig zagging to the overall pattern. I can make out one paw track with some details, suggesting perhaps a naked paw. All this is consistent with striped skunk, but I don't mind mink or marten as second guesses.

@FisherSpeaks I'm an OK winter tracker, but I've never seen tracks like these. Nothing in my track books match, either. In BVPP near Yamnuska. Guesses?

Allowing the farming of Eurasian Wild Boar in the Yukon could mean some of these red dots (of #wildpigs) occurring in our territory in the near future.

5 reasons why peat is powerful: 1) Peat is 50% carbon. That C was taken out of the atmosphere by plants and soils and put into ecological lockdown. Let's keep it there. 2) Peat archives everything from past climate to archeological records. Peat = information we need. 1/

Foresters, in some parts of interior BC there are some very strange linear patterns in lodgepole pine regrowth. Why? 🤔 Clearly affected by people, but also stocking rates look too high from planting alone, and lines are OHV width or more.

My goal is to change the way people think about boglands. Please help! Did you know that being in a bog means standing on ~5,000 yrs or more of carbon-storing power, which has caused planetary cooling? Trust me, we want and NEED bogs on our side. 1/

Do you care about the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, and its importance to diversity & the #ClimateCrisis? I wrote a story about my ~30-yr passion for ANWR for the @USCWrigley's storyteller program guided by @LizNeeley @edyong209. This story starts in 1994.... 1/
