Anas Sarwar doesn’t want you to rent a Voi bike for 20p and use a cycle lane up Victoria Road on your morning commute.

Bike lanes are not well used. It’s all relative I suppose. But these same cretins like to pretend we are the Netherlands or Denmark. We are not.

@FietsDreaming @AnnieWells2026 Who gives a sh1t? The place is a nightmare for the disabled because y’all wrecked the place for cars, yet you celebrate bikes… waste of time and money.

Glasgow is a cracking city, but we’ve lost that sense of pride in too many of our communities. I’m standing here where I used to go to Brownies as a wee girl. It should be a place full of memories… but instead it’s been demolished and left to rot, covered in litter. That’s not good enough. Places like this used to bring people together. Now they’re being neglected, and it sends a message that our communities don’t matter. That’s exactly why I launched my Pride in the Community initiative, working with local schools and young people to rebuild that sense of respect, responsibility and pride in where we live, for future generations.

@KaindeManji Scottish Labour plan to take £350 million from the active travel budget to fix potholes. The AT budget is saving the NHS money and AT spending has a far higher ROI than road building. Why can this money not come from all of the transport budget?

@CammyJRamsay Why not take the £350m from all of the transport budget and not just the small Active Travel part? The AT budget is saving the NHS money and AT spending has a far higher ROI than road building.

In Prestwick road conditions are one of the most frequent complaints I receive but the council simply doesn’t have the money to fix it. People are fed up having to pay out of pocket to fix their cars due to the failings of the Scottish government. Vote Labour May 7th 🌹
Scottish Labour@ScottishLabour

A Scottish Labour government will invest £350 million to repair nearly five million potholes and make our roads safer for everyone who relies on them. Scotland needs change.

@MhairiHunter Amsterdam is flat. The SNP overlook this small detail, so, no. My town has unused cycle lanes and I can't get a bus from my door to my kids school, despite there being stops outside both. I feel buses were a better place to start, as cycling is exclusive, buses are inclusive.

Away from The Masters, I asked Glasgow Life and Glasgow City Council for a response to this story about volunteers trying to restore Linn Park. Glasgow Life: "Linn Park Golf Course and clubhouse has not been operational since the start of the pandemic and we have no plans to reopen the facility." Glasgow City Council: "Officers continue to explore the options around the use of the former course, however, there are no imminent plans to undertake any redevelopment." Great stuff. In the meantime, here are some more cycle lanes that next-to-nobody's using.

"When you come back, it’s like going home. It’s much more to us than just a bit of grass." ❤️⛳️ I spoke to a group of golfers who are trying to restore a much-loved public golf course in Glasgow - more than SIX YEARS after it closed. Please give it a read and a share. It's a great thing these guys are doing. #PublicGolfCounts bunkered.co.uk/golf-news/golf…

@MhairiHunter Ah the last refuge. This from a woman whose party has Jenny Gilruth talking about education and Shona Robison about money. But please Mhairi send me pictures of the crowded bike lanes in the Gorbals.

@MhairiHunter Mhairi - you know very well that people in Govanhill and the Gorbals don’t cycle much and crave the use of cars. These areas are beset by poor health and they need transport.

@Chaz01BR @Smidgey1 @MhairiHunter Oh FFS, I have lost count of the number of times you talk about the Pearce inst. when they connect to the rest of the network usage will increase. At the moment they are not part of the wider network. Try looking at the bigger picture for once

@will4kilpatrick If Labour want a new pot hole fund the money should come from all of the transport budget and not just the small Active Travel portion.

@will4kilpatrick I don't know if NHS have put a figure on it. The Dutch save an estimated €19 billion from public health benefits. If the cycle network continues to grow in Glasgow the medium to long term saving will keep increasing.

@will4kilpatrick According to the DfT the ROI for walking and cycling returned an average of £5-£6 per £1 giving a ‘benefit to cost ratio’ (BCR) greater than or equal to 4, or high value. Cycling is also good for mental health ed.ac.uk/news/2024/cycl…

@VonnSand @AnasSarwar @ScottishLabour Yes the roads are shocking. Is gutting the small active travel budget the right solution?. Half of Glasgow doesn't own a car. Why not take the money from across the transport budget? Last year ~£144m went to AT. Labour plan to cut £70m of it.

We have a once in a generation opportunity to change the government in Scotland, and to elect a First Minister @AnasSarwar who is committed to getting the basics right and fixing our country. If you agree that it’s time for change, then on May 7th vote @ScottishLabour 🌹

🚘 I’ve been out speaking with residents about Scottish Labour’s £350 Million pot hole fund. The SNP are neglecting our roads, but we have a plan to get them back in order - saving you from costly repairs. On May 7th, Vote Brian McGinley and Scottish Labour.
