@slotpoipoi @b0kita_2 Another teason may be because they want to jave plausible deniability when they make their religious characters and institutions evil, so they don't get criticism. Or because they want to substitute the christian beliefs with something else while keeping the appearance.

@slotpoipoi @b0kita_2 Ah, I gotchya, I think the reasons it's never mentioned to be christianity in some cases even though it definitely is, is because some publishers and distributers either do not like, or do not want to deal with explicit religion. This is why many yu-gi-oh cards were changed here.

@slotpoipoi @b0kita_2 You cannot tell me with a straight face these characters just look like that by cure coincidence, and that their design has nothing to do with christianity. I'm not saying it is exactly christianity, but they are supposed to be: "what if a religion like that existed in my world"

@FighterPosting @b0kita_2 元ネタとしては存在しているし、カトリックだったりプロテスタントだったりするのはそれはそう。 ただ(ほとんどの場合)作者の意図として「キリスト教や特定の宗派を書きたいというわけではない」って話。 豪奢な大聖堂が "カトリック" の象徴であることを多くの日本人は知らない。

@slotpoipoi @b0kita_2 Evangelion has angels, guilty gear's bridget originally had crosses in her design, others like fullmetal & slime, have religions that are obvious analogues. When something is called "Western Holy Church" and had huge cathedrals, it's an obvious stand in for catholicism.

@b0kita_2 Part of this is because while many westerners are actual practitioners of a religion that is depicted or referenced in anime, most anime and even japanese games by and large depict religious institutions and entities as evil. Only rarely is it otherwise like in faraway paladin.

VTuber fans are one of VTubings biggest problems. Lewdbait and drama are widespread because it gets the most attention by fans and is thus encouraged. It gives VTubing a bad name and paints VTubing as mean girls showing off their jiggle physics and rabid simps defending them.
