I do not think Benji has been wasted (yet) this really all comes down to him winning comebacks. I'm optimistic that the dc5 writers are aware of how they are handling this character and want to believe that his arc is this push and pull about being a failure. Now that he's been eliminated again, it's objectively the worst thing that can happen to you while playing this game. Thus enforcing that feeling of failure.
