@mitsuhiko I can highly recommend the Akkogear / MonsGeek lineup. Rocking a Akko MonsGeek M1 V5 since ~1 year coming from the Keychron V1. Akko offers a variety of sizes, strong support for ISO layouts, and a bunch of different switch options.

I really need a mechanical keyboard for the office, but the Keychron Q3 Max 80% with banana switches is permanently sold out in Europe. What else should I get that is equally nice?

Got Lifetime Premium access to @iximiuz Labs and used saved playgrounds a lot. One failed to resume. A few days later Ivan emailed me: sorry for the lost data, bug is fixed now - without me even reporting it. Insanely impressive customer care for a one-person platform! 👏

Glad you find it useful! Adding it to labctl would be simple - the only thing that stopped me from doing it right away is the UX. I'm still not sure what the final command should look like. The last release added a number of new actions on playgrounds (stop, restart, make_persistent, set_title, clone, machine.stop, machine.start, machine.reboot, etc.), and they will eventually be exposed via labctl, but I need to work out a holistic naming & structuring approach first.

I just shipped a very fun feature: - named playground runs. We all surely love long HEX strings as identifiers, but more human-readable titles could come in handy, too. Ah, and the persistent playgrounds are now available in the dashboard 🥳

DHH has a lot of incendiary hot takes on here that seem way out there, but when you watch him in longer form you realize that they more or less all make sense. He sees himself as a patron saint of simplicity, as a protector for what web development once used to be.

@ibuildthecloud I've been following your Windows on ARM adoption so I thought it revolves around exactly that. Thanks for sharing the details! In my case it's more the standard corporate Windows laptop and the remote Linux dev system story.

@FillFeile The way I develop for windows is I run vscode in linux and SSH into a remote windows machine to test stuff. (you might think that's nuts because I'm running a windows laptop, but it's arm64, so yes, i run vscode in wsl2 to remote to an intel windows VM running on linux)

VSCode remote stuff is just magical. I wish JetBrains would work this well.

@ibuildthecloud Great to read this take. I thought exactly the same seeing their latest HW releases on Computex. These highly integrated, highly customized and highly proprietary pieces of HW are basically mainframes. A Z System for GPU calculations.

Do you think nvidia is betting on the mainframe. Their future of AI datacenters is like saying the world just needs 5 mainframes?

K8s ten years in, am I happy with it, not really. K8s cemented itself so hard into the enterprise that it makes you wonder if it signed its own death certificate. Sure you use it because you have to but it's not the platform for innovation. And that's sad, because it's so good.
