The problem was entirely a marketing one. The first film featured the bone temple prominently and came out less than a year earlier. A lot of the general audience thought the bone temple was literally the same movie. Like not a retread- the exact same film.

@empiremagazine Insane to release this so close to 28 years. I bet most people probably thought this was a new version of 28 Years or something.. too confusing. Kind of like Nintendo did with the WiiU. The masses need clarity.

I enjoyed last year’s remake of The Running Man, directed by Edgar Wright, largely because I thought Glen Powell served as a formidable centerpiece for the film. Top to bottom, the entire cast here is really good & while I don’t think this is as good as the original, I liked it.

Game Night (2018) had no right to be this good, the writing just keeps stacking jokes while the mystery keeps tightening, and it actually commits to the bit the whole way through.
