I think the black cat representation after their erasure was like the funny detail that really sealed the deal to their similarities. But highly recommend Nabari no Ou. Anime is only one season, but manga is pretty cool. Yoite the goat comes about in chapter 5. I should reread..

Further detail about the trans readings: Scara was created as a test run for Ei's puppet/new body, likely designed with a female/NB body. And iirc Yoite was explicitly stated to be intersex and raised as a girl but rejected that.
