The NFT space is currently in the worst state I have ever seen it.A real decay. A death spiral and decomposition — aesthetic, mental, and emotional. Surrounded by a whirlwind of fake, remotely controlled pseudo-projects that have absolutely nothing, nothing at all, to do with art. Yesterday I gave away 25 pieces from my latest collection, Zuzu — an attempt at genetic abstract expressionism — and only one person thanked me for it. One kind artist and human being, among 25 holders… For 35 years I have lived and worked with art on the most visceral, lived level. More than 1,000 of my works have been sold all over the world, they sit in unique collections (Harvard among them), and people have paid thousands of euros to acquire them. It feels deeply contradictory and unfair toward those genuine collectors who actually paid real money for my art… that I am now giving pieces away without even receiving the most basic human courtesy: a simple “thank you.” That is what hurts the most.
