Finland firmly opposes the death penalty in all circumstances. Israel’s approval of the Death Penalty Bill marks a troubling reversal of its past position — one that has set an important example in the region. We urge Israel to uphold its commitments under international law.

Drones have strayed into Finnish territory. We are taking the matter seriously and the security authorities have reacted immediately. The Defence Forces are investigating the incident together with other authorities.

Finland, together with our close partners, today joined a joint statement regarding the situation in the Persian Gulf and, in particular, the Strait of Hormuz. The statement condemns Iran’s recent attacks on commercial vessels and attempts to disrupt commercial shipping. The statement also calls on all countries to respect international law and uphold the principles of international security.
