concluding my posts from last night: if you got scammed at SMASH i HIGHLY encourage you to charge back through your bank, report it to the ACCC and write a complaint to SMASH. that’s the only way it will stop happening

@retr0_robbin if you make under a certain amount you can kinda get away with not charging GST. most artists probably dont unless it’s their full time job

@funa_vt i just think that if you’re selling in a different country you need to show the prices in the local currency. a lot of people genuinely got scammed this way

ive noticed other convention attendees in other non-US countries (particularly canada) complain about this same thing happening to them so clearly this is an already existing issue. IF YOU’RE TRADING IN A DIFFERENT COUNTRY ADVERTISE IT IN THEIR CURRENCY. it’s not hard

Dead ass had a booth charging in EUROS but we didnt know untill we already tapped .... 5O EUROS WHICH IS LIKE 82 AUD crazy thing was the artist said it 50 dollars .... this should not be allowed

@GaryGewehr @Aimee_exe_ i hate to break it to you but unlike america australia actually has proper consumer law. either set your prices in AUD or make it UNDENIABLY CLEAR that it’s in USD, because that’s what the law says

if you were an international artist at smash who charged USD and not AUD, that's actually disgusting behaviour for not disclosing that information
