the best part about being an entomologist is when someone sends you a pic and asks "what's this?" and it is the grainiest most indistinguishable photo of an insect ever taken

Muwekma Ohlone Tribe
Muwekma Ohlone Tribe@MuwekmaTribe·
Our Tribe just received profoundly exciting news from Dr. Tadashi Fukami, who manages 'Ootchamin 'Ooyakma, also known as the Jasper Ridge Nature Preserve on the campus of Stanford University. Following a sacred fire tradition that the Tribe conducted at the site, biologists are now witnessing the return of a rare native plant that is endogenous only to the Bay Area. photos.app.goo.gl/BhFdUjZL8J7Pjy… "I think this plant can be viewed as a symbol of 'Indigenous awakening,' showing what is to come with the Muwekma," Dr. Fukami writes. jrbp.stanford.edu/news/intention… What a deep, beautiful, and glorious sign of things to come!! Thank you so much to Dr. Fukami for all of the extraordinary work that you're doing. The posture of true collaboration, friendship, and partnership that you have with our People is deeply appreciated. As Dr. Fukami has said many times, we all benefit from indigenous knowledge -- and everyone should respect these traditions, which evolved from indigenous science. fb.watch/u_fKDSfIJa/ #TrailofTruth #justiceformuwekma

One of the post docs in my PhD lab used to call this “let’s go get refresh,” and I’ve never had a better description of this act.

A well-deserved achievement for an amazing scientist and person. @Bee_Bytes and I grew up together in academia, hitting our milestones with reassurance from each other. I couldn't be more thankful for our parallel journey and now I am thrilled to cheer her on in her next role! 🐝
