The “north’s bravest music venue” was never meant to last 10 years. Today, the White Hotel’s founders confirmed that it will close in January. @m3_7lw #grassrootsmusicvenue #independentmusicvenue #Manchester #TheWhiteHotel #WhiteHotel

The KVB. Brutalist dystopian visuals against a dark-wave electronica soundscape at #TheWhiteHotel, Salford. Not a hotel, but a former garage in the shadows of Strangeways & derelict textile mills. Razor wire enclosure, inspection pit cocktail bar & rough as fuck toilets. Loved it

Obligatory mother-daughter (and mother) bank holiday pub toilet selfies. Three Guinnesses down, looks like I’m going to America with her in September.

Caught on film by John Nunn, two years ago today at the derelict Spode factory in Stoke-on-Trent - one of the last two remaining “great name” ceramics factories from the Industrial Revolution.

The story so far: my collaborative journey with Andy Gower; culminating in the sleeve photography and design for his latest album ‘Six Towns Boy’ - available on vinyl and all streaming platforms, and launching this Saturday (May 16th) at The Sugarmill. fionakonca.wordpress.com/2026/05/13/a...

This popped up on my Facebook feed this morning, courtesy of the Decade 77-87 page. New Model Army, photographed for the Record Mirror, 41 years ago (almost to the day). The fella on the right, Robert Heaton, is my wonderful and sorely missed big bro.

Heron Cross Pottery (built in 1886 & still operating today) was requisitioned by the government during WWI/II & used for the storage of land mines Read how I linked this to the inspiration Stoke’s pottery industry was drawing from Islamic art 150 yrs ago #Heron" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">fionakonca.wordpress.com/perpetuum/#Her

Single & double exposures of another peaceful garden invader, photographed 2 years ago. This is Aquilegia (commonly known as Columbine or Granny’s Bonnet) - at its most beautiful during these few weeks of the year (although the seed heads are equally as striking) #wildgardening

For me, the next best thing to being “at one with nature” in the great outdoors, is an afternoon session in the CAMRA award winning drinking establishment/community lifeline (and Ay Up Duck Radio HQ).
