Still not sure why we're putting Daily Mail *and* journalist in the same sentence? They protect power and wealth of their owner at all costs. That's all. Media reform to stop a tiny amount of people owning the vast majority of our media urgently needed. thenational.scot/news/25977650.…

At a time when Britain should have been urging restraint, when it should have been talking about international law or at the very least proportionality, we had Starmer normalising genocide.

How is Norway able to fund such a Defence budget when we aren’t? One factor is they’re still drilling in the North Sea - we buy their fossil fuels from the same basin we deny ourselves the economic benefit from. Madness.
Navy Lookout@NavyLookout

🇳🇴Norway has decided to further increase its defence spending by 115 NOK (c£8.9Bn) to 3.5% GDP by 2035. This guarantees funding of 5 or 6 Type 26 frigates as well as 6 Type 212CD submarines.

@RupertLowe10 Southampton Leisure Holdings plc, when it fell into administration in April 2009. Following a reduction in their overdraft and over £24m in debt, the club faced severe financial trouble, leading to a 10-point deduction and administration.

I spent a long time in football as chairman of Southampton. Proper fans, proper sport. I loved it. It brings people together in a special way. Not always positively towards the chairman, it must be said. But our sport is being increasingly used as a political tool to force this guff on people who just don’t want to hear it. The fans. Taking the knee, all this diversity bollocks being pushed at each and every turn. I hated it when I was chairman, and I certainly hate it now. Take this Reform politician welcomed on stage by Farage this week who founded his club in the North East ‘as a BAME football club’, with the ‘specific aim of integrating the fragmented Indian community’. His words... A club specifically founded for black, asian and ethnic minorities. A club for Indians. Anti-white racism. Pure and simple. Why do we tolerate it? A Restore Britain Government would stop it. Because it’s not just this Reform bloke, this filth is everywhere. Jobs across the football pyramid banning white men from applying. It’s outright racism. But apparently when it’s white blokes on the receiving end nobody cares? I wonder how many young white men have been overlooked for job opportunities in the industry because of the colour of their skin. In the clubs, and certainly in the media. Thousands and thousands and thousands. It’s going to get worse and worse with this new Government regulator being forced on football. Trust me. It will not stop. Nobody cares about all this nonsense. Fans want to go to the football, have a few pints, enjoy the game. Good. Let them. Clubs need to start listening to them, because they’re the ones funding the whole operation. And the fans don’t want any of it. None of the politics. Not at the stadium. Not on the TV. There is now a party that represents those football fans who want to enjoy their sport without the incessant lectures, irritating political campaigning and outright anti-white racism. Restore Britain.

Absolutely. The media is clearly to blame for the fact we have no deployable Navy at any kind of scale. Not the plethora of braided underemployed admirals or useless MoD civil servants or ineffective recent governments. The bastard meeeja! Again! Off to the Tower with them. PS Are you really a professor?!
David Blagden@blagden_david

On the one hand, yes, there’s plenty of blame to go around. On the other, that includes various media elites who (a) paid little attention to such matters and (b) cheerled for certain contributory policies, e.g. outsourcing govt support work to margin-maximising contractors.

The current state of the Royal Navy: 2 aircraft carriers — neither operational. 6 Type 45 destroyers (our most powerful warships) — one operational (in Cyprus). 7 Type 23 frigates (less powerful, much older) — three operational 5 Astute class nuke-powered subs — one operational (in Arabian Sea?). Surely those responsible for this appalling state of unreadiness (a national embarrassment if ever there was one)— political, civilian and military — should be fired/charged. Their incompetence has effectively left us without a navy. Quite an achievement for an ancient island nation.

Rebel MPs who want Starmer removed are feeling tactically outmaneuvered. If they are minded to launch a coup after potential Labour humiliation in 7 May elections, their ability to organise will be hugely constrained — because the Commons will not be sitting till the King reopens parliament on 13 May and announces Starmer’s new legislative programme. Would any fury and desire for vengeance against the PM be sustained for more than four days, when MPs will be in their constituencies, rather than plotting and winding themselves up in the corridors of Westminster? And would any wannabe prime minister risk looking treacherous, just as Starmer is received the imprimatur of the monarch for putative national renewal? “I honestly can’t see any route to replacing Keir,” said one MP who would like to see him go. For Rayner, Streeting and Burnham, the game has become a longer one
