I dunno if it’s just my experience but it seems the Clerith fandom got a lot more vocal after rebirth no? I certainly felt empowered to defend Clerith after TGA 2023 which is when I joined twt!

It was never about putting people in boxes. It also wasn’t about disallowing people to like who they like. This whole entire discourse began when ignorant fans who didn’t play the game began to misappropriate story and the roles of the characters through mass misinformation. No one cares when you ship anything but Cloud and Aerith, because the fandom has gone years lying to people and created the illusion of deep romance and intimacy between Cloud and Tifa to the extent that Cloud and Aerith’s story is rejected as wrong and inappropriate. Remake Trilogy is a heavy restoration to the integrity of the FF7 story, including the proper alignment and context of relationships between characters, and people are crashing out because they’ve believed the lies for years. Sucks to be manipulated and gaslit like that, but they bring it on themselves, so I absolutely dont feel sorry lol

Listen, as someone who loves Clerith bad, I never understood why people think you have to be either a Clerith or a Cloti. Why do we have to put everyone in boxes? People are allowed to like one of the other, but they're also allowed to love both or none.
