@walterwhitepill Works for me even with dozens of them around. Doesn't work when they sense fear.

works if you force a comparison between the third Reich and fascist states but Hitler himself said that fascism does not quite deserve to be called a worldview. So it is comparing apples to oranges. But ok, let's say we grant that. So Germans faced with extreme circumstances...

We're not terribly prone to creating the most extreme iteration of ideologies. Prussian semi constitutionalism hardly was extremist. The DDR was a foreign imposition and required the Stasi and tons of informants to keep people in line, nevertheless moderate by eastern block...

German autism makes them natural extremists. Whatever 'the thing' is in any given historical era - Protestant Christianity, imperialism, nationalism, national socialism, environmentalism, multiculturalism - they always conclude that if a thing is good, they must goodthingmax until the blood flows. Deep in the German volkgeist is an urge to turn every ideology into a war crime.

@EuropaAdAstra of our actual needs and shouldn't be sustained permanently. The higher prices are seriously undermining the fact that we are the economic engine at the heart of europe.

@EuropaAdAstra of our drive to invest in renewables. It created redundancies in the grid that made it exceedingly unlikely we'll ever face a situation like Spain just because one point failed. Rn we're switching dependence on Russia to dependance on LNG from America which still falls short...

with Russia to the extent that we can resume our complementary energy trade. We should do that but retain the infrastructure to switch to alternative suppliers of gas, oil etc. as needed. That way we reap the benefits without undue geopolitical risks.

aim for a peace that allows Ukraine to retain its military with "neutral" states always there as a deterrent ready to back self defence efforts, resuming the current backing if hostilities break out again. After peace it's simply in our best interest to normalize relations...
