Godsdienst blijft vandaag misschien wel het giftigste dat er is. Al duizenden jaren dient ze als een zwak excuus voor haat, onderdrukking en veroveringsdrang zogezegd in naam van een goddelijke plicht. Landen innemen, volkeren verdrijven, uitmoorden, oorlog voeren… allemaal in naam van een onzichtbare God. Stel je eens voor dat die invloed er niet was: we hadden al zover verder gestaan op alle vlakken, wat een verdomde tijd en bloedverspilling.
