@coast4c helps local fishing communities in the Philippines learn how to farm and sell seaweed; a vital ingredient in food and cosmetics as well as bioplastics. This helps them become more resilient to climate change, restore the marine ecosystem and lock carbon in the ocean.

Our wonderful team and partners in the Philippines have achieved the milestone of diverting 300 tonnes of end-of-life fishing nets from the ocean - equivalent to a whopping 279,000 km of fishing net waste that has been kept out of the ocean! #OceanOptimism #circulareconomy

iMPAs restore fisheries! Within 2 years of establishing Tambaliza iMPA, 64% of randomly selected respondents perceived increased fish catches, 62% perceived increased fish size, and 59% perceived increased fish diversity in catches. #OceanOptimism @ZSLconservation @Darwin_Defra

Meet the dual purpose iMPA guardhouse and seaweed platform/dryer in our partner community Guindacpan. The platform helps reduce risks for seaweed farmers and increases iMPA enforcement. The dryer (design by @UPLBOfficial) allows seaweed drying even during rains.

Exciting that our first container of #regenerative #seaweed will soon arrive with @Cargill. The seaweed we buy from small-scale fishers directly empowers them to implement larger and more effective marine protected areas restoring the ocean. And it is beautiful! #blueeconomy
