I think that becomes really quite straight forward once you have some training experience. The metrics are questionable too. If you feel it helps you stay fitter and healthier and it’s worth the $, then good for you. I have a podcast on fitness wearables. It’s a bit old now, but it’s still relevant: open.spotify.com/episode/4nfrQv…

@Fit_For_Golf I think whoop is incredible for informing training decisions. Gives me a great indication of my body’s preparedness to take on hard workouts or prioritize rest.

@willhaskett Heart rate tracking during exercise really needs a chest strap to be accurate. Especially when trying to detect quick changes in heart rate. I have a Garmin watch. The HR data is completely useless if I don’t wear a chest strap and just use the wrist based sensor.

You would know better than me, but these guys on the tee and the Whoop reading is 120-130 bpm most of the time. I ran 3.5 miles this morning and my heart rate PEAKED at 155, and I have to jog about a mile to even get to 130. There’s no way Justin Thomas is 123bpm standing over a 6-iron.

Please stop telling people with osteoporosis not to lift anything heavy... I've heard it from docs, PTs, Trainers, etc... This might seem protective... but it's not. This risk calculation... A hip fracture in an older adult carries a one-year mortality rate of roughly 25 percent. Half of those who survive never walk independently again. That is the cost of fragility. The risk of a well-supervised, progressively loaded heavy (80-85% 1RM) strength program (LIFTMOR) is a muscle strain or a bruise. These are not equivalent risks, and treating them as equivalent, as avoidance does, is not caution. It is a decision to accept the larger risk in order to avoid the smaller one.

@Fluddan It’s attached with a very solid door anchor and the bands are covered in a protective sheath in case of them snapping, but yes 🫢

“Pro Hips”🏌️‍♂️ High level golfers are usually very good at separating pelvis rotation from torso rotation Especially in transition from backswing to downswing, which leads to a very efficient & powerful sequence Go nice & slow, this can be challenging to coordinate at first 🧠

First, pretty decent golfers tan for mid March ⛳️. Now to the exercise, I call these extended RDL’s. Standing on the plates allows extra range of motion without the plates bouncing off the ground. The beauty of these is that they actually load the back less, and the hamstrings more, than standard RDL’s with a much shorter range of motion. The load I can use in these is massively reduced due to the weaker position my hamstrings are in. In standard RDL’s, I’d probably be using about 60-80lbs more. It would be less hamstring stimulation, and more back stimulation. These are excellent for improving strength of the hamstrings, glutes, and back. These are very important muscles for golfers. Remember, in the gym, we should focus on stimulating adaptations in our muscles and nervous system. It’s not about mimicking the swing. You want to fundamentally change your force production capabilities, and fight off Father Time. This is 305 x 4. Started doing these about 4 or 5 months ago and have have been slowly adding weight. I do them every Wednesday as part of my “B workout” on the Fit For Golf App. If you want to gain distance and fight age, download the Fit For Golf App and start your trial.

@NoCurmudgeon That’s a great option too, and regular benching is already in the program as power work. Nobody strong at inclines is weak at regular benching. The exercises are much more similar than they are different.

@Fit_For_Golf Velocity program workout B uses incline over regular bench press. Any reason for this?

@SMbiddinger2015 @Fit_For_Golf That’s awesome. You are on your way! I thought he posted a graph showing how strong a person is based on the percentage over their body weight with various lifts, but can’t find it now
