apparently girls on tinder in japan don't even post pictures of themselves, just like food and cute animals and art???? sorry but is there any precedent for a species just choosing to go extinct?

The correct way, imo, is to approach the confluence of Ray Peat + bioenergetics + "elan vital" stuff, is like the 19th century Vatican approached Darwinism. "Believing either way does not affect my salvation, but it may be another wonderful example of divine majesty."

People who dismiss Christian Vitalism often do it for two reasons: 1) they conflate Nietzschean philosophy with the much older vitalist thought-- and while Nietzsche is antithetical to orthodoxy, vitalism is ambivalent. 2) they correctly identify "Christian Vitalists" as cringe

@IberianMantis Land was wrong here, actually. Exponential use of finite resources and declining human capital will cause the growth curve to collapse, and humanity may be the /only/ thing which remains. Hopefully we can at least save industrial civilization.

@BorealBaron Most “cowboy” gear was brought to Louisiana by Spaniards during their occupation of New Orleans. The first registered brands in the USA were all french surnames.

There is no excuse for being this ignorant in the age of the internet and search engines. Doing so demonstrates an astounding lack of character and laziness. Why would you post this stuff if you weren’t some La Raza nationalist with a chip on your shoulder?
VB Knives@Empty_America

As far as I have ever been able to tell, the CORE items of the cowboy arose in Mexico, not Spain. Meaning the horned saddle and the thrown rope. Spain and the American South East did of course have equestrian and cattle raising cultures, but no Cowboys per se.

The aerial lift was a mechanical device invented in 1887 by Torres Quevedo and installed by him at Niagara Falls. He was a pioneer in computing and robotics, having created the first algebraic computing machine and chess‑playing automaton. He also invented the electric boat, the remote control, and remote‑controlled planes, boats, and military weapons (the torpedo), the control mechanisms for commercial airships and planes, several aircraft used during WWI… You could know about individuals like this, but instead you choose to be a proud cretin who only knows about the inventors you were taught about in children’s cartoons

One argument against Spain being part of "Europe" is the marked lack of scientific/mechanical invention emanating from the Peninsula, or any place it heavily influenced. It seems a much different kind of civilizational soul, a spirit of the Classical world, of the East.

In American terms, this house is INTENSELY Blue-Coded. Everything about it is very blue, including the deliberate historical preservation, lack of metal buildings for motorized toys, lack of visible concrete and asphalt, lack of intense lawn care, the naturalized flowers, etc.

Many people long for this but it will simply never happen. The old forums, the old blogs, the little islands of culture creation, they are all gone and nothing can bring them back, because for the most part, no one wants to do effortful content creation for an audience of 10

@vulpesvulpes9 Many people don’t realize that the whole “microchimerism” thing is 100% real— it just only happens during gestation. Surrogates absorb the child’s DNA.
