We also have the others mentioned, the US constitution would not benefit us in the slightest

I get the concern, school shootings are horrific tragedies. But boiling down the entire American Constitution (free speech, due process, limits on government power, individual rights) to 'lunatics shooting schools' is a massive oversimplification. Canada has far fewer of those, sure, but we also have weaker free speech protections, more government overreach, and our own share of violence. I'd rather live under a system that trusts citizens with liberty and holds government accountable, not one that trades freedom for a bit more safety. Trade-offs exist everywhere.
