A bit of a mini bear market in crypto right now and web3 gaming has especially taken a hit over the months. But my conviction is unshaken in gaming as the killer consumer-facing blockchain app that will break out of the crypto echo chamber and suck in a flood of real participants into the crypto ecosystem. How do we onboard millions of people into web3? Gaming! It's always been gaming. Seeing the likes of Banana, the (web2) hyper casual P2E casual game that's gone crazy on Steam only increases my conviction here that web3 and gaming IS blockchain's killer app. Banana with a web3 layer would have only given the players MORE ownership of the game assets. The power of P2E cannot be denied here as the killer UA feature. Using a tokenomic model as the P2E mechanism would turbocharge this. I'm convinced the market, bearish as it may well be for some months, will start to consolidate around those quality web3 gaming projects that deliver FUN, unique games to the market that deeply focus on using web3 to build an experience that could not exist without crypto incentives. That is games that lean into the web3 experience of speculation and incentives as a feature and not a bug. Be these innovative RPGs with complex web3 economies that give the player control of the ecosystem (@playchronoforge) Or open-world AI-driven games where your characters exhibit agency, armed with an ERC20 wallet and the power to engage in commerce (@todaythegame, @ParallelColony ) Or hypercasual, mobile-first P2E economies built ground up on web3 principals (@CityVerseTycoon and @InfiniGods ) Or mobile games (@fableborne ) that combine the best elements of different games and twist them into something new with THE focus on FUN before anything else Or pushing the frontiers of a new class of persistent games that can live forever in the blockchain (@PirateNation) Or the madhouse of emerging hype casual games @ton_blockchain that are starting to pull in some crazy numbers (@pixelverse_xyz) These are some of MY bags with games that have launched or are on the verge of launching, but you can insert other gaming projects that are ready to launch and show the gaming world what unleashing tokenomics on gamers can do. Web3 gaming may be deflated, but in no way defeated. The quiet times, the bear times, are when the real builders get shit done sans market hype. I'm here to see web3 gaming tear into web2. It may not be this year, it may not be next year, but it's going to happen and I am going to be there for it.
