@Fl0atingSign Chicago is pretty balls the entire way through and Cabaret’s second act has Sally singing CABARET (maybe my fave show tune ever) followed by one hell of an outro.

The ultimate luxury a writer has now is the ability to disappear. Guys like Ben Lerner and Chad Harbach really figured it out. Atticus Lish. Emma Cline, too. No commentary on social media or begging. Nothing. They just put out a book or a piece and disappear again. Maybe show up in a photoshoot for a magazine. That’s how you know you’ve really made it. Good for them.

So it was kind of funny to learn later as an adult that he actually just got permission from the rights holders for every single song in advance.

Call yourself a cinephile if you want to call yourself a cinephile.
But if you care that much about being a cinephile, I would hope subtitles, genre, release year, etc. wouldn’t stop you from watching a great movie.
