Colson Montgomery’s defense at shortstop was one of last season’s most pleasant surprises. He’s being bumped to third base a little too often in the early going to accommodate a guy who….how do I put this as nicely as possible….has done absolutely nothing to earn it

@SoxMach_pnoles @MSuareo Is Colson more likely to end up in the OF than at 3B? He is athletic enough, and again, they're still going to have Roch, Bonemer, Carlson, Meidroth, Bergolla, Antonacci, Baldwin, Vargas, [maybe] Mune who can fill in to the other infield spots.

@MSuareo There’s a lot of middle infielders in the mix, yet Chase is the only one people ever say is on the hot seat.

Some opening day thoughts in regard to the #WhiteSox: To no fault of his own, there’s a lot of pressure on Chase Meidroth to perform this season. Too much MIF depth in this system for him to be comfortable. He was fine in 2025, but will need to take a big leap in 2026, otherwise he could be a sneaky trade candidate. A lot of focus on the Triple-A pitching prospects, but I’d expect Drew Thorpe to join the Sox rotation at least before Schultz and Smith (barring any more setbacks in his rehab). I think the Sox are still high on him. This bullpen could be special this season. Dominguez, Taylor, Leasure and Newcomb already makes up a solid group, plus adding Prelander Berroa at some point is a big plus. Really curious to see Paez in a Mike Vasil type long relief role too. Curious about Antonacci’s timeline. OF seems to be his clearest path to a roster spot, so I’ll be watching how often (if at all) he plays there in Charlotte. Don’t ignore William Bergolla either, although I think his future is more of a utility infielder off the bench. Should be a lot of turnover in the rotation this year. Very possible that 4/5 of the rotation is different by August. I already mentioned Thorpe, but think Tanner McDougal could be the first promotion since he’s already on the 40 and has the fewest injury concerns. Two prospects to watch for breakout seasons: Christian Oppor and Javier Mogollon. Getting as close to .500 as possible should be the goal this season. Don’t think they quite get there, but 75ish wins should be very realistic. Go Sox!
