Closing out Public Works Week with a huge thank‑you to the Flagler County Public Works team. Did you know this small but mighty group of 23 employees helps maintain 117 miles of paved roads, 114 miles of unpaved roads, 17 miles of sidewalk, 45 miles of ditches and canals, and 37 bridge structures? Public Works touches nearly every piece of physical infrastructure in our community—maintaining roads, repairing bridges, clearing drainage, operating traffic signs, mowing, tree trimming, and so much more. What truly sets this team apart is their dedication to each other and the community. “Our teamwork is a source of pride. With only 23 employees of all ages and skill sets, we all do our part and fill in for each other. 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞: 𝐁𝐨𝐚𝐭 𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐧 𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐭 𝐁𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐧 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟏 May 21, 2026 – Flagler County officials want to let residents – boaters in particular – know that dredging of the boat basin at Bings Landing will begin June 1. The work is expected to take three weeks, and the boat launch will be closed for the duration of the dredging. The work will be completed by the Fourth of July holiday. “They are increasing the depth of the deepest areas, which should be a very good outcome,” said Interim County Administrator Adam Mengel. “This work would not be possible without the Florida Inland Navigation District. We are very grateful for their partnership.”

Public Works Week spotlight! Here are just some of the essential pieces of equipment our crews use to keep Flagler County maintained: • Amphibious Excavator – Used to clean outfall ditches and maintain drainage. • Motor Grader – Used daily for routine grading on unpaved roads and reshaping road surfaces. • Rubber Tire Excavator – Used for ditch and swale cleanout. • Batwing Mower – Used for roadside mowing. • Drag Tractor – Used for daily unpaved road maintenance, allowing crews to address multiple roads in one day. These are only a few of the machines that help our Public Works team keep our community safe, accessible, and moving every day.
