Energy expert Dr. Lars Schernikau: It sounds simple… until you do the math. • 1 GWh battery = 700,000 tons of mined materials • Takes 450 GWh to build (450x its capacity) • Stores as much as 400 tons of coal Hours of storage. Massive mining, degradation & risks. This doesn’t fix intermittency, it multiplies the destruction. ‘Batteries are an environmental nightmare’.

The BBC wanting Netflix & Prime users to pay a TV licence is like Tesco charging you a membership fee for shopping at Aldi. If people are already paying for other services, don’t be surprised when more stop paying the licence fee.

@07Simmo @TikiTakaConnor They couldn't keep 11 players on the pitch last season and suddenly despite what we all see in games, they've become whiter than white? Doesn't pass the sniff test. It's a stitch up to make sure PL not embarrassed by Citeh winning the title.

Cut My Tax
Cut My Tax@CutMyTaxUK·
So Polanski did indeed fail to pay council tax on his main residence. Clearly he wasn't bothered about failing to contribute to the cost of local services. It's another example of 'Rayner's Rule:' that those who are most keen on forcing the rest of us to pay lots more tax don't think they should pay much tax themselves. And when they're found out it's always 'a mistake.'

“Caretaker PM Ed Miliband were to be appointed Chancellor of the Exchequer as soon as his more electable colleague was installed as Premier” What could possibly go wrong? Hard to think of a plan more likely to enrage the great British public than this.

@rcolvile @Dannythefink That would assume above average IQ capable of first order consequential thinking. Instead we have vested interests looking out for themselves, incapable of realising the obvious first order consequence of the behaviour.

There was a v good piece (think from @Dannythefink) which pointed out that changing leader just as you're going into an economic crisis is a really bad move. You want the unpopular incumbent to stay and suck up the pain, then switch when you can plausibly sell the turnaround...

@07Simmo @Carra23 @SkySportsPL Last season it was VVD getting away with 8 red cards. LiVARpool win the league. This season Arsenal go unpunished repeatedly, looking like they win the league. Seeing a pattern yet? PGMOL is deciding the champions

Getting 13 minutes worth of added time from 45 minutes of football is really impressive. How have they managed that?

@Altgthr Must have been listening to Merson, who's backing Liverpool to be better than Utd next season. After all, why judge the lack of structure on the pitch, when the coked one pronounces on Sky?

How many policies that weren’t in the Labour manifesto has Starmer’s government tried to ram through? Trying to restrict trial by jury, abortion up to birth, give billions to unload the Chagos islands. Tyranny.

@90sfootball Best finishers I’ve ever seen Ahead of his time too, a modern striker who could do that lot, be tearing it up if he played now, travesty he only won one league title

On Saturday I went to my synagogue. I was checked by security at the gates. I passed protective railings, and then a guard at the front door buzzed me in. Another guard waited inside. Just wondering. Is this normal for Christians, Muslims or Hindus in the UK? Or only for Jews?
