@MichelleDewbs I had to buy another return ticket even though I had a return because it was THAT train and online I had to specify a train. Spent entire journey on twitter arguing if I’d bought via a person at station I could get an open ticket. Madness

My morning so far…I feel the need to get this off my chest 🤣🤦🏼‍♀️ At London Waterloo I tried to board my train as soon as the platform was announced, but my ticket wouldn’t scan. Showed the guy my ticket & asked him to pls let me through the barriers. He said ‘no, you need to use your ticket’. I showed him ticket & explained it wouldn’t scan. He shrugged & told me to ‘go & see that woman there’. Woman had a queue of people so I asked if she could let me through, she told me ‘no, you have to wait your turn’. I waited, but conscious I only had minutes left, in desperation, I tried to buy another ticket at the machine, but the contactless wasn’t working. I tried to get another via the app, but it wouldn’t work (presumably because now, it was so close to departure?). Anyway, I returned to the barrier exasperated. Please, I said to ‘the woman’, can you help me because I really need to board the train which is about to depart. ‘No. Wait your turn’ was again the response. I went to two other staff members at the gates & showed them my ticket and said ‘please, can you just let me through the barriers’. ‘No, she needs to say we can’ was the response. Anyway, you guessed it - I missed the train.😩🤬 As I said to all the staff members, if I had just turned up to the train & barged through the barriers, ticket-less, as so many seem to do these days, I would have been happily on the train and en route to the destination… Makes me wonder why we bother trying to do the right thing 🤷‍♀️ Argh! Anyway, I feel better now having got that off my chest! 😉

Why can’t some people understand that if you remove what a woman is & decide anyone can opt in to being a woman you fundamentally lose all sex discrimination laws, rights & safeguarding protects! It is an insane position to take, particularly if you are a female.

@sharrond62 I was told in a changing room once to NOT come out and check in the mirror as I might offend the other unisex people.

I refuse to shop at any store selling women’s cloths that won’t protect the female changing rooms as stated by Uk law. If we use the pound in our pocket shops will stop allowing a minority of loud voices to dictate unlawful policy putting girls & women in potential harms way.

@FlaminNora This is an advance ticket - it is only valid on the train shown. If you select an off-peak return or an anytime ticket, you could board any off-peak (or peak with anytime) service ^KJ

So if you buy a ticket online with @Se_Railway you HAVE to choose return to be able to check out. But then you have to buy another ticket if it’s not that train 🤦‍♀️ so now I have 2 return tickets and you won’t refund. If I bought from a manned station as a paper ticket I could ???

@FlaminNora Can you let me know what ticket type you have purchased? As for example, if you buy an off-peak or anytime tickets you do have to choose a train to check out, but you can actually travel on any of the permitted trains (this doesn't apply to advance fares) ^KJ

@Se_Railway I did it online where I ticked the train I wanted out but it wouldn’t let me check out with open return. So I had to put a train down as working until 6 so I ticked a 7pm train but the offices closed so I could get the 5.25. Never been problem with paper ticket before

PRESS RELEASE: HIGH COURT GRANTS HISTORIC PERMISSION FOR @TMOFCharity The Maggie Oliver Foundation TO CHALLENGE GOVERNMENT ON FAILURE TO ACT ON CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE AND EXPLOITATION This morning the High Court granted permission for charity, The Maggie Oliver Foundation, to challenge the Government on its failure to implement the recommendations of the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA). The judgement is a moment of profound significance for survivors of child sexual abuse and for every child in this country whose safety depends on the Government honouring its commitments to reform. The Court found that following promises from consecutive governments, over the last almost four years, to learn lessons from IICSA to drive improvement in the policy and legislation protecting children, there is a legitimate expectation for them to deliver the inquiry’s twenty recommendations. The judge specifically highlighted the continued permission of use of pain inducing restraint techniques on children, a practice described as amounting to torture by IICSA, as an area where the Government has not justified its failure to act. The case will now proceed to a full substantive hearing. Maggie Oliver (former Detective and founder of the Maggie Oliver Foundation) will say: “Today is a historic day, not just for the Foundation, but for every survivor who has testified, waited and hoped. And it is for every child now and in the future, and for everyone who believes the state’s primary duty is to protect its citizens, especially the most vulnerable. When governments make promises to act and then walk away, children pay the price. Today the court has said, those promises matter.”

@SMceachin17351 @Jenny_1884 Believe me sadly this is true. It’s happened to my daughter and I called 111 next day who sent ambulance and she was admitted for 3 nights on intravenous antibiotic!

@Jenny_1884 that receptionist if this is a true story was very wrong to say what they did. I am not sure if this story could even be true.

Husband phoned Drs as he has a chest infection. Receptionist said to go to local pharmacy as they can give him antibiotics. Goes to Tesco Pharmacy & told they aren’t allowed to give out antibiotics & needs to see the Dr. Do these people actually know what they are doing 🙀

@Jenny_1884 I sympathise. My daughter sent to pharmacist by a ‘triage’ at docs. I went down to say never seen her so ill please can she just SEE someone. Refused. Next day 111 sent an ambulance who took her in and admitted her for 3 nights with acute tonsillitis. Thanks GP NOT!!!!
