@joeblow01346431 @DoerflerJared This would most likely increases the length of rounds from 5 to maybe 6 hours, which would be more detrimental to the industry than the avg person losing 5 - 10 yds from their drive. I for one don't think I'll notice this distance diff, maybe 1 club diff in to a green. Oh, no.

@DoerflerJared seems to me that if the main problem is golf courses getting dwarfed by longer balls/equipment, why can't the courses adapt by making themselves narrower and with more traps/penalty areas? that would put a cap on the ever advancing distance race by emphasizing accuracy.

I have two questions about the rollback. I don't really have an opinion - I see valid arguments on both sides. • Timing • Who is paying for it Over 41 million Americans played either on-course or off-course golf last year. A record 25.6 million played on-course golf last year. 3.4 million juniors played the game last year - the highest since 2006. And roughly 100 million people engaged with the game globally. Golf has never been healthier on the amateur side. Why make the announcement now? There is already an ample amount of friction in the game. Why couldn't we wait for one year or two years? Does the USGA and R&A have data or a study that shows this will not impact the growth trajectory of the game? The five leading ball manufacturers are all billion-dollar companies. • Acushnet • Callaway • TaylorMade • Bridgestone • Srixon (Sumitomo) The companies have allocated budgets from an R&D standpoint. And while they are large organizations - they still have to pay for new balls. That money could be going elsewhere. I saw a tweet (not sure if it is right) that said a ball from 1995 would be non-conforming. I'd love to know how much this will cost from an R&D standpoint - it isn't as simple as opening up the recipe book from 1991. And who is paying for it? Is the USGA and R&A going to pay for it? I am a little concerned about the smaller ball companies. How are they going to pay for new R&D? Are they going to survive? Are we left with just these five companies now from a ball standpoint? There are many opinions on the proposed rollback - which is awesome. Disagreement allows us to get better. But it doesn't have to be combative and divisive. I've seen this on both sides of the argument. Can we respect others opinions even if we don't agree? Mike Whan hasn't given me a reason to not trust him - and I think he has done a nice job at the USGA. He's smarter than me; he's smarter than a lot of us. I trust that he is making the right decision (whatever it is) for the health of the game. Credit to @NGF_GolfBizInfo for the data at the top of this tweet.

@Canadianeh79 FYI, Def is just water 66% and urea 34%, l think by weight. S Google search will tell you. You should be able to make your own, just filter it really well.

@spccturf Sadly you could make them 12 feet wide and golfers would still drive at the edge and on the grass. Ropes are a pain though, hopefully it works for you.

Our 7 ft wide cart paths requires frequent repairs of the edges. Using recycled aeration plugs and seed works great, but will be looking into expanding paths in the most troublesome, “s-curve” areas to limit necessity for repair in the future.

I'm amazed the rhetoric continues to be "what could Jay Monahan done to stop LIV" Monahan did nothing to try to stop LIV, in fact he pronounced it dead in March. He underestimated a Tour with a 600 billion wealth fund behind it. It's an unfathomable miscalculation.

@EanDaniels The frayed tips sound like dull reels. Get big verticut units or similar to get that thatch out. Maybe also get some shatter times to help get the roots down instead of staying in the thatch.

Any advice for managing 30 yr old REALLY thatchy Pencross fwys & T’s? I am seeing a lot of frayed tips. I know cultural practices is the long term answer. I think the current issue is a lack of fertility & possibly over aggressive PGR. Any advice for short term green up?
