I have just left Parliament after the puberty blockers debate. Firstly, thank you to each and every one of you who signed my petition and made this debate possible. There were some incredibly impassioned speeches against the trial and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t feel emotional at times. The most important statement actually came from an MP who supports the trial, when she said, without a hint of irony: “We must not sacrifice vulnerable children on the alter of ideology.” I couldn’t agree more. That is why we should not allow a single child to ingest this poison. Rest assured, the debate was just one part of a much bigger plan. Our Judicial Review continues in haste. If this government does not cancel the trial voluntarily, we will legally compel them to cancel it.

@acky_lisa I’m neither weak, woke nor compromising. Encouraging people to practise their faith is the opposite. Comparing that to 1930s Germany is simply a false comparison.

The answer isn’t anger. It’s going back to church. There has been a lot of anger this week about Muslims praying in Trafalgar Square. Britain is a Christian country and our laws, culture and heritage have been shaped by Christianity. But if we believe in freedom of religion and free speech, those freedoms must apply to everyone, even when we don’t like it. Let me be clear; I didn’t like seeing those scenes in Trafalgar Square either. However, what strikes me is that many people who complain about other religions practising their faith rarely practise their own. If we want to protect our Christian heritage, our culture and our country, the answer isn’t anger; it’s going back to church. Come back to church. Because Christ is King. And this is a Christian country.

@TimHailstone Of course it is. But salvation comes through knowing the Lord, and I don’t want you to miss out.

Anger rarely builds anything good. My message is simple: if people value Britain’s Christian heritage, the best place to start is by practising it. Complaining online won’t strengthen our country? living our faith will. And calling someone an idiot or a coward for standing up for their beliefs doesn’t make much sense.

@Fletcher4Mayor If you think that alone will stop the Islamisation of the country you're a deluded idiot. There should be anger Nick. Look at what they've done to our people for decades now, with the help of cowards like you.

White Working-Class Lads My maiden speech in Parliament six years ago was about this very issue. Sadly, because of local party politics, the Labour mayor at the time did not support the youth clubs we were trying to create. From my perspective, failing children simply because it was a Conservative MP’s project was beyond poor. Kemi Badenoch has already acknowledged that the last government got some things wrong, and if I’m honest the support I received from ministers at the time was lukewarm as well. The Centre for Social Justice did try to help, but as I’ve often said, think tanks can write all the reports they like; it still takes political will to turn good ideas into real change. Six years have now passed since I spoke about a young lad called Tommy who was being neglected and drifting. By now he, like countless others, could easily have taken the wrong path. If that has happened, he will no doubt be in a place he never wanted to be and costing the system far more than the price of a youth club, a bit of respect, and someone showing they care. So to those I believe put barriers in the way back then, I hope you reflect on your decisions. And to those in authority today: Don’t let our white working-class lads down again. They deserve better than party politics and neglect. Link to the article below. And for those interested, my maiden speech on this issue is also in the comments.

@Fletcher4Mayor We would go back to church if you weren’t so woke. Do you really think the Reverend Paisley would have put up with the woke teachings of the Church of England that we have at the moment A lesbian Archbishop of Canterbury and we’re supposed to take the church seriously

Though I would add Nick that the anecdotal evidence seems to indicate those who "complain" (to borrow your words) are actually taking up churchgoing. It's gradual but very approximately from @IrreverendPod five year mailbag I would say the numbers of new Christians are in the 100K region.

Last night was a very sad night. Decriminalising abortion, even at the latest stages of pregnancy, is one of the worst decisions our leaders have made in a long time. It removes safeguards and weakens accountability at the point life is most vulnerable. This will lead to untold suffering for both babies and mothers. I hope those who voted this through reflect on the consequences of what they have done. The next government must repeal this decision immediately.

I keep saying it, by the time this @UKLabour government has finished there will be nothing left. Now it’s jury trials. One of the oldest protections in British justice. And all three Doncaster MPs; @Ed_Miliband @LeePitcherMP and Sally Jameson voted to scrap them. They don’t care. They never have. By the time this Labour government has finished, there will be nothing left.
Kemi Badenoch@KemiBadenoch

A backlog in the courts…and Labour’s solution is to remove one of the oldest protections in British justice. That tells you everything you need to know about this Government. Proud of my Conservative team for fighting this terrible plan.

It’s World Book Day. While today is about encouraging people to read, I’d also like to encourage anyone who has ever thought about writing a book. The Revival is my first book, and I hope to write many more. Writing it wasn’t always easy. There were moments when it felt like hard work and times when I wondered if I’d ever finish. But the day I held my first printed copy in my hands is something I will never forget. If you have a story, an experience, or an idea you want to share, don’t talk yourself out of it. Start writing. A page at a time soon becomes a chapter, and chapters soon become a book. So yes, read today but if you can, write too. You never know who your words might inspire. You can buy The Revival today at Waterstones or on Amazon. Links in the comments.

The Real Minimum Wage Is £0 From hairdressers to mechanics, teaching assistants to baristas;  the jobs many young people once started in are disappearing. When government makes it more expensive to hire, businesses simply stop hiring. It isn’t complicated. Most small business owners understand this instantly. Why are those making the big decisions unable to see what everyone else can?
