I'm fed up of the system for directors. For 20 years I've worked in the opera and theatre industry and during that time I've had perhaps 3 interviews to direct a production. D's get jobs by being friends with, schmoozing, charming and persuading the right people. 1/

@MrsJayneW I wish someone had encouraged me to think more about how I wanted to spend my time, rather than what I wanted to achieve (on paper). What makes you light up? Plan to spend your time doing as much of that as possible (and be open to what that might look like!)
